gabi reigh
Gabi Reigh moved to the U.K. from Romania at the age of 12 and now teaches A level English. Her translations and fiction
have been published in Modern Poetry in Translation, World Literature Today, The Fortnightly Review, and
The London Magazine. Winning the Stephen Spender prize for poetry in translation in 2017 inspired her to translate
more Romanian literature. As part of her Interbellum Series project,
she has translated interwar novels, poetry, and drama by Lucian Blaga, Liviu Rebreanu, and three from Mihail Sebastian:
The Star with No Name,
Women,
and The Town with Acacia Trees,
the first work translated from Romanian to receive a PEN Translates award. She has also compiled and edited an anthology
of pioneering 20th-century women writers Virginia's Sisters.
