David Short
David Short teaches Czech and Slovak at the University of London's School of Slavonic and East European Studies.
He has written widely on Czech language and literature and is the author of Teach Yourself Czech. His translations include
both academic and literary works, among the latter: Jaroslav Hašek, František Gellner, Jaroslav Seifert, and Bohumil Hrabal. He was
recognized for his work to promote Czech literature abroad as the 2018 recipient of the
George Theiner Award.
